Title I – San Andreas Penal Code (Criminal Law)

Chapter 1 – Crimes Against Persons

Article 101 – Assault
DefinitionAssault is the unlawful attempt, with the present ability, to inflict a violent injury upon another individual. It includes conduct that places a person in reasonable fear of immediate harm—such as raised fists, charging, or sudden movements combined with credible threats—even if no physical contact occurs. Article 102 – Battery
DefinitionBattery is the willful and unlawful use of force or violence upon another. It requires physical contact, from pushing or striking to a brief melee, and covers injuries that do not rise to the level of aggravated assault or homicide. Penalty$1,500 fine + 15 minutes jail. Article 103 – Aggravated Assault
DefinitionAggravated assault is an assault committed with a deadly weapon or by means likely to produce great bodily injury, or one that results in serious bodily harm. Weapons include firearms, knives, blunt instruments, vehicles used as weapons, or any object used in a manner capable of causing significant injury. Penalty$5,000 fine + 30 minutes jail. Article 104 – Kidnapping
DefinitionKidnapping is the unlawful seizure, confinement, transportation, or holding of a person against their will through force, threat, or deception. It applies whether for ransom, coercion, facilitating another crime, or any unlawful purpose. Penalty$10,000 fine + 45 minutes jail. SeverityFelony
Article 105 – Homicide (Murder & Manslaughter)
DefinitionHomicide is the unlawful killing of a human being. Manslaughter covers killings resulting from gross negligence or reckless conduct without malice; murder requires malice aforethought, intent to kill, or extreme indifference to human life, including premeditated acts and felony-murder circumstances. Article 106 – Attempted Murder
DefinitionAttempted murder occurs when a person, with the specific intent to unlawfully kill, takes a direct but unsuccessful step toward completing the killing. Examples include shooting at vital areas, laying in wait for an ambush, or using deadly force that fails to cause death. Penalty$10,000 fine + 45 minutes jail. SeverityFelony
Article 107 – Domestic Violence
DefinitionDomestic violence encompasses assault, battery, or abuse committed against a spouse, intimate partner, former partner, cohabitant, or family member. Article 201 – Theft (Petty & Grand)
DefinitionTheft is the unlawful taking of another’s property with the intent to permanently deprive the owner. Article 202 – Burglary
DefinitionBurglary occurs when a person unlawfully enters a building, structure, safe area, or secured vehicle with intent to commit theft or any felony therein. Article 203 – Robbery
DefinitionRobbery is the felonious taking of personal property directly from a person or their immediate presence, against their will, by means of force or fear. Article 204 – Carjacking
DefinitionCarjacking is the taking of a motor vehicle from the immediate possession of a driver or passenger by force or intimidation. The offense is distinct from simple vehicle theft because it involves an occupied vehicle and coercion. Penalty$8,000 fine + 35 minutes jail. SeverityFelony
Article 205 – Arson
DefinitionArson is the willful and malicious burning of property, vehicles, or structures, whether public or private. It includes setting fires to defraud, intimidate, retaliate, or destroy, regardless of occupancy at the time of ignition. Penalty$12,000 fine + 45 minutes jail. SeverityFelony
Article 206 – Vandalism

Article 302 – Possession with Intent to Distribute
DefinitionPossession with intent is possession of controlled substances in quantities or under circumstances indicating planned distribution. Article 303 – Drug Trafficking
DefinitionDrug trafficking encompasses large-scale manufacture, importation, exportation, or coordinated distribution networks for controlled substances. Article 304 – Public Intoxication / Under the Influence

Article 401 – Illegal Possession of Firearms

Article 402 – Possession of Prohibited Weapons

Article 404 – Discharge of a Firearm

Article 501 – Criminal Conspiracy
DefinitionConspiracy is an agreement between two or more persons to commit any crime, coupled with an overt act by any conspirator in furtherance of the plan. Article 502 – Racketeering (RICO)
DefinitionRacketeering targets individuals who conduct or participate in an enterprise’s affairs through a pattern of criminal activity. A “pattern” typically means two or more predicate felony acts within a related timeframe, showing continuity of the criminal enterprise. Penalty$15,000 fine + 60 minutes jail. SeverityFelony
Article 503 – Participation in a Criminal Street Gang
DefinitionParticipation consists of knowingly promoting, furthering, or assisting criminal conduct by a group that has as one of its primary activities the commission of crimes, and whose members individually or collectively engage in a pattern of criminal activity. Article 601 – Speeding

Article 603 – Street Racing

Article 604 – Running a Red Light / Stop Sign
DefinitionFailing to stop at a steady red signal or stop sign, or failing to yield the right-of-way when legally required, including rolling stops where a full stop was mandated. Penalty$400 fine. SeverityInfraction

Article 611 – Driving Under the Influence (Alcohol)
DefinitionDUI (alcohol) is operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol concentration at or above the legal limit, or while impaired to a degree that one cannot safely operate a vehicle, as observed through driving pattern, field indicators, or chemical tests. Article 612 – Driving Under the Influence (Drugs)

Article 613 – Refusal of Chemical Test

Article 621 – Evading a Peace Officer
