John grew up in a small town in Michigan, at a young age growing up he was always getting in trouble not listening to his parents and stealing money from them. His father was in law enforcement and worked for the county sheriff's department. Most of his friends were always getting into trouble or doing drugs, so he decided after graduating high school he enlisted into the U.S. Army and served for 10 years as an infantry sergeant stationed in Germany. After the Army returned home and went to college for a law enforcement and graduating applied to multiple police agencies but, accepted the job at the San Andreas state troopers.
